Gabriela Zambiazi

Gabriela Zambiazi was born in Belo Horizonte and lives in São Paulo with her husband and dog. A former lawyer, she now dedicates herself to writing and leading wedding ceremonies.
Her work explores family structures, their bonds, and their scars through sharp, unflinching prose, with a particular focus on the multiplicity of female experience. It Lasted a Moment, It Never Ended is her debut novel, and she is currently working on her second one.
IT LASTED A MOMENT, IT NEVER ENDED (DUROU UM MOMENTO, NÃO TEVE FIM)
At her mother’s wake, Amelia confronts reality. After a life of extremes, Iraci has committed suicide, leaving her daughter with only a single message: a ban against Magda, Amelia’s grandmother, at the funeral. This, and nothing more.

In 1974, in the Jequitinhonha Valley, Magda is an ambitious young woman dreaming of moving to Belo Horizonte. She meets Cesar, a doctor from the capital, 20 years her senior and grieving the recent death of his father. Their impulsive marriage seems like the fulfilment of both their dreams and ideals. However, the "perfect life" quickly sours, and the husband reveals himself to be a possessive and controlling man.
Spanning the countryside and the capital of Minas Gerais, three generations of women _ grandmother, mother, and daughter_ carry the marks of violence over the course of 40 years. In a lyrical and engaging narrative, the novel explores, through complex family dynamics, the scars we inherit and the choices that, like a triggered catapult, create a bridge across times and space.
